Tyson After watching a couple local autocross events last year, I don't think my car would be much fun around the cones. I've decided to give SOLO I a try instead. My car: 1993 Mazda RX-7 Touring -Magnus GT42 ball bearing turbo -custom Magnus manifold w/ 2X TiAL 35mm wastegates -4" SS downpipe, 3" SS midpipe w/ Borla XR-1, HKS SS / Carbon / Ti catback -Customized M2 medium intercooler -twin Supra in-tank fuel pumps, Russell -6 braided fuel lines, 2X K&N fuel filters, 2X 850cc / 2X 1300cc fuel injectors -Haltech E11 engine management -M2 radiator -ACT heavy duty clutch -Hawk HP+ brake pads, Mazda Motorsports SS brake lines -OMP removed -custom rear strut tower bar -Simpson Cam-lock Bolt in harness -Bridgestone S-03 tires Can't afford suspension upgrades to match the engine yet.

Well, you need coil overs to fit 285's all around. Throw in some aftermarket sway bars and we're talking nearly $10 g's. Definitely 10 w/ traction control and a cage.

That won't happen for quite some time. The computer, harness and strut bar still need to be installed. Actually, I still need to draw the strut bar. I think I'll be taking it easy for a while to keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up.

Try Autox anyway. It'll teach you the basic car control skills to be a good raod racer.

I would like to autocross but they make the courses really tight around here. I would have trouble. Besides, they have SOLO I events every second weekend here, and I have to have time to do other things or I'll get bitched at. Besides, I might need the off days for repairs.

Tyson, considering the amount of power you should be producing, you might want to consider some Hawk Blue front brake pads before going to a lapping day or Solo 1. (don't use Blues on the street) I have found the HP+ fads after 3 to 5 laps even with my wimpy 140HP Miata.

How many hot laps do we get at once during SOLO I in Ontario? Believe me, during the lappings days I will be taking it easy for a while. I don't own a truck and trailer. ;D

Solo 1 in Ontario is 1 warmup lap, 3 timed laps and a partial cool down lap. Typically this is repeated 3 to 4 times during the day. COM sports Car Club (comssc.org) does a combined driving school and time trial at the Mosport big track once a year. I don't know much about their events.
