Does anyone know what the sound limit is for *ahem* unmuffled cars? What about having it checked; what's the best way to have it checked?
I'm running my Miata with no muffler right now since it was pretty much rusted through. It sounds kinda cool, really, but is quite loud.

In our region, Los Angeles and San Diego (and i beleive it's an SCCA standard) is 95db from a certain distance at a certain angle, at a certain rpm in a certain gear...if i am to understand it correctly

Here is a link to the Pro Rally sound check site. www.scca.org/news/tech/prorally/PRTB103102a-sndchkdiag.pdfIt's possible that we have alittle more tolorence to max allowability becouse it say's no more than 105db. The RPM was only 2500, just make sure to run the throttle smooth as to not cackel the exhaust. A glasspack sounds nice and helps keep it from sounding too loud.

usually location dependent.
Like Roebling road is 95 at 50 feet, IIRC
